The Rotary Club of Ventura, Four Seasons Cleaners, and several other Rotary clubs have started their annual effort for the Coats for Kids project. Rotary plans to collect, clean and distribute thousands of coats and jackets of all sizes between November 1 and December 31, to keep children and adults warm this winter.
Rotarians and Four Seasons Cleaners are striving for 10,000 coats this year to increase the reach from the 7500 coats collected last year. Rotary already has a Hilford Moving and Storage vault filled with 500 coats ready to be cleaned. In additional to the support of many local businesses, the Ventura County Star is the media sponsor for the Coats for Kids. Everyone’s coat donations are being asked to be dropped at the sites listed on Rotary Club of Ventura’s website at www.venturarotary.org.
Collection boxes are distributed to businesses, schools, government centers and public parks in Ventura County the week of November 1, 2010. Once collected, members of the Rotary Club of Ventura (Downtown) volunteer to deliver them to Four Seasons Cleaners for cleaning and then distribute them to service organizations and schools in the community such as Sheridan Way Elementary, Salvation Army and Casa Pacifica.
The Rotary Club of Ventura also distributes coats at its annual Christmas Party. This year over 50 needy elementary school students will select coats for themselves and for members of their families.

Ventura Rotary meets Noon to 1:30 on Wednesdays at the Derby Club, Ventura County Fair Grounds, Ventura. The club is dedicated to serving the local and global community.
