Westlake to Sponsor Scanning Day

The city of Westlake Village will sponsor a photo scanning day Thursday, August 19, from noon to 4 p.m. in the library at 31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village.

The purpose of the event, which is being held as part of the “Community Photo Project – Conejo through the Lens,” is to preserve the pictorial development of the Conejo Valley for future generations.

Residents are invited to bring in family photographs depicting life in the Conejo Valley ranging from landscapes, to historical events, to school programs and family life. The photos, which will be scanned and returned to the owner, will be included in a web-based archive that will provide easy, open Internet access to images and papers documenting the history, growth and culture of the area from its early settlement to the current day.

Donated photos should be family photographs of Conejo Valley subjects; should belong to the donors or handed down to them by family members; photos by professional photographers submitting their own photos; copyrighted images may be submitted only if the donor owns the copyright, and is willing to grant unlimited use of the image.

For further information about the City of Westlake scanning day, call Brianne Anderson, (818) 706-1613.
