After a seven-year effort to have the Triunfo Sanitation District be an all-elected Board, Ventura County Supervisor (2nd District) Linda Parks has announced that four seats on the District’s board of directors are up for election November 2. This November’s election will be the first time in the history of the Triunfo Sanitation District that all seats on its Board will be chosen by the voting public in an election.

Triunfo Sanitation District Board members have authority over a $13 million budget to provide sewer service and reclaimed water to the eastern portions of the city of Thousand Oaks (including North Ranch and Westlake Village) as well as service to Lake Sherwood, Bell Canyon, and Oak Park which also receives water service from the District.

The only qualification to run for the Triunfo Sanitation District board positions is to be a registered voter in the District. Board members receive deferred compensation and a $218 stipend for each meeting attended.

The local meetings are in the early evening and are twice a month, including a monthly meeting with the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Board. In addition to monthly meetings, the TSD board members are compensated for optional conferences and monthly breakfast meetings.

Interested candidates can pick up nomination packets beginning Monday, July 12 in Ventura at the Ventura County Elections Division at 800 S. Victoria Boulevard, or at the Ventura Regional Sanitation District offices located at 1001 Partridge Dr., Suite 150.

The deadline for filing nomination papers at the Ventura County Elections Division is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, however if one of the current incumbents does not choose to run, the deadline for filing will be extended through August 13th.
